Try: Rest knee initially after suffering a knee sprain rest is probably the most important part of treatment try to keep weight off the knee and walk as little as possible ice down knee to help relieve inflammation and pain put ice cubes or crushed ice in a sealable plastic bag wrap the bag in a towel or cloth place the ice pack on knee for 20 minutes four times a day continue treating knee with ice for at least three days compress knee by wrapping it with an elastic bandage wrap the bandage tightly enough to support the knee but not so tight that it cuts off circulation elevate sore knee as much as possible try to keep knee above heart to decrease the blood flow and swelling to the knee lie down on back and place two or three pillows underneath the sprained knee while sleeping apply heat to knee to alleviate stiffness after the first three days though the initial treatment for a sprained knee is ice after a few days cr should switch to a heating pad apply heat for 20 minutes four times per day or as needed for stiffness and pain take ibuprofen motrin advil or nuprin for pain if necessary if knee sprain is severe use crutches to walk to avoid putting weight and pressure on the knee

Try: On the very first day of pain apply ice every hour for 15 minutes the next day the duration of treatment is still 15 minutes but instead of applying it every hour cr can now apply it at least 4 to 5 times a day make sure to put a towel on the affected area before applying ice to avoid ice burn you can also put ice cubes in a plastic bag and wrap it up with a towel before placing it on the area suggest that cr pamper him herself with a warm relaxing bath use 6 to 10 drops of essential oils such as lavender sweet rosemary or eucalyptus in a full tub of warm water this therapeutic full body immersion does not only ease the pain but also promotes relaxation and stress relief massage the affected area with a topical menthol rub or essential oils to ease the pain when doing strokes for massage the direction should always be towards the heart and not the other way around try natural mixtures mix two teaspoons of honey with two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in warm water drink this twice a day to help in alleviating joint pain exercise to ease pain and lose weight low impact aerobic exercises like swimming biking and walking are excellent for joint pain do these exercises 20 to 30 minutes 3 times a week to make it tolerable for the joints split the time into 10 minutes sessions with a break in between until you complete the whole 20 or 30 minutes these activities are also excellent in reducing excess weight which will decrease the extra load on the joints immobilize the painful area with splints or braces; or decrease weight bearing on that area by using devices such as canes or walkers all of these devices are prescribed according to how intense the pain is and also to provide support in the alignment of the affected get a lot of rest and relaxation make sure cr gets enough sleep to restore his her energy and to free his her body from stress, this will promote faster healing of achy joints
