The Care recipient (cr) often complains of pains or illness to get out of doing daily activities cleaning etc

Try: # check cr’s temperature # ask cr where he or she feels uncomfortable # make sure cr does not have a serious health problem # ask cr if they feel up to doing enjoyable activities # ask cr to do a few chores around the house before doing hobbies # tell cr that the quicker he or she gets daily tasks done the quicker he or she will be able to relax and play cards go out etc # reduce the number of tasks for the day # offer the cr a bland meal that will not upset the stomach # suggest that if the cr feels better later on he or she can do an enjoyable activity # develop a daily routine for the cr that fits his or her level of physical abilities # monitor routine and add or delete activities # compliment cr on his or her performance of daily tasks # demonstrate activities if the caregiver notices the cr doesn’t know how to do something or seems to be doing a poor job
