caregiver (cg) needs suggestions for helping a Care recipient (cr) who is visually impaired at mealtime

Try: Use a fairly large circular plate with either a non-skid surface or place the plate on a non-skid placemat help the cr visualize where the food is on the plate by imagining that the plate is the dial on a clock place the meat at 3 00 the vegetables at 6 00 the potatoes or rice at 12 00 and possibly the bread or roll at 9 00 make sure that any food that needs cut up is done so beforehand place the glass or cup outside the perimeter of the plate at 2 00 and if there is a salad bowl or plate place that also outside the perimeter of the plate at 10 00 using this placement or something similar every day will help the visually impaired cr be able to still eat independently
