Try: Develop a plan to accommodate the cr’s needs include the cr in this process and come up with enjoyable activities together that can be done while recuperating make a list of things the cr will need to do each time he or she gets out of bed if permissible this will allow the cr to be more productive while taking a break from being in bed be patient while the cr is learning to cope with being incapacitated and adjusting to the new routine offer help but ensure that the cr does not become dependent upon your help for manageable tasks rather than doing a manageable task yourself encourage the cr to do it on his or her own provide verbal cues as needed to help the cr complete the task congratulate the cr when the task is completed independently provide ongoing coaching when needed and positive reinforcement keep the cr’s home clean keep sheets pajamas and towels clean so that the cr feels refreshed when using these items
